Purify our hearts
Read an inspirational story in Life! section of today's paper. Shall share it here.
This is a story of a mother who walked from a distant village to visit Gandhi in his religious retreat. She took along her little boy. "He won't stop eating sugar." she told Gandhi, "Its bad for his health but he won't listen."
"But he'll listen to you, Gandhi, you're his hero. Please tell him to stop."
Gandhi looked at the boy, pondered, and told the mother to come back in one week. Slightly irritated - it was midsummer and the village was far away- she left.
The next week, she came back with the child. Gandhi patted him on the head and told him to stop eating sugar, because it was bad for one's health.
The mother thanked Gandhi profusely. Walking to the gate of the ashram, she turned to ask Gandhi why he didn't say that the week before.
Gandhi replied: "Mother, until one week ago, I was eating sugar."
Like all good stories, there's a moral to it - "I need to get my own messy life in order before I tell someone how to live"
Argg, hate the recent headaches that's hounding my head, must be the silent protests against mugging that my head's holding.
